Bomb jammers are devices which broadcast a signal on one or more radio frequencies. Bomb jamming has the effect of rendering unusable other radio transmissions on the same frequencies. The bomb jammer is designed to prevent radio-activated bombs, also known as radio-controlled improvised explosive devices (RCIEDs) from detonating.

Bomb jammers interrupt enemy communications to bombs and RCIEDs by broadcasting radio transmissions on the most common frequencies used by such devices. Bomb jamming is critical in many tactical scenarios, such as preventing the remote detonation of road-side bombs. Bomb jammers are frequently deployed in public areas, SWAT scenarios and in vehicles for mobile convoy protection.
